Japan Team Championship First Preparation Event
Last Sunday saw four teams of Warhammer 40K players fighting against each other in the first ever preparation of the World Team Championship (WTC) league tournament. This uses a combination of Eternal War and Maelstrom of War missions to make for some very interesting games!
The four teams were
- KFC team, French gaming friends who live in Japan.
- Team Kikyo, local players from Giant Hobby independent store.
- H&M team, non-Japanese gamers from the Warhammer Store Harajuku and Yokohama communities
- Team A l’attaque, local players from Arrows independent store
The event was organized in two rounds of 4 hours each where each player of every team got paired against each other using the special WTC pairing rule mechanism.
The first round saw Team KFC against Team A l’attaque and Team Kikyo against team H&M. In the second round the winning teams played each other and the remaining teams played each other. At the end of the day Team KFC won by a narrow margin to secure two round wins, followed by Team Kikyo, Team H&M and Team A l’attaque.
Event was kindly supported by terrain from Arrows, Giant Hobby and Tokyo Tactical and run by JTC captain, Toma. It was an awesome day of gaming and meeting people from different communities and we can't wait for the next one!
A lot of great Warhammer 40K moments happened during that event with strong players from Japanese, US, and European communities all living in Japan; bringing armies as diverse as Eldar, Space Marines, Tau, Chaos, Adeptus Mechanicus, Imperial Knights & Deathwatch, Dark Angels, Grey Knights and Space Wolves.
